Category
In case you want the category get the filter functionality, please set a category as Anchor.
In case you want the attribute get the filter fucntionality, please set the attribute config Use in Layered Navigation to Yes.
You can use only the catalog input type Dropdown, Multiple Select and Price in attribute settings.
